Additionally, I hold a doctoral minor in Applied Statistics. I completed a 1 year doctoral internship and 1 year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Boulder - Wardenburg Health Center. I am trained in numerous psychotherapy modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, experiential approaches, psychodynamic therapy, and EMDR. Clients enjoy my direct approach, authenticity, and sense of humor.
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with family, hiking, playing volleyball, coloring with my kids, and playing with my pups.
My aim is to first meet you where you’re at- mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We will work on your goals and move through healing old wounds to promote a way of living that is truly authentic.
I have extensive experience treating mood and anxiety disorders including depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities, tailored to each individual’s specific needs and goals. I have completed specialty training in treating eating disorders (anorexia nervous, bulimia nervous, binge eating disorder, atypical anorexia, and body dysmorphic disorder). I am trained in EMDR and cognitive processing therapy, as well as in experiential techniques such as psychodrama.
Difficulties with food and body image are rampant in our society. They are often a symptom of much deeper struggles, which, once uncovered and addressed, lead to an improved relationship with food and self. Often times, what we do with food (restricting, overeating, purging) is reflective of the emotional distress we feel from trauma or other mental health issues. I have extensive experience treating the full spectrum of eating disorders and everything that goes with them.
Nearly everyone has experienced some level of trauma- perhaps a major, life changing event, or a compilation of smaller, distressing events. Trauma impacts our ability to manage our lives, affects our world view, and can negatively influence so many parts of life. I utilize EMDR, cognitive processing therapy, and other psychotherapy modalities to help clients work through trauma in order to regain a sense of control and wellbeing.
Depression and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that almost all of us experiences at some point in our lives. Through therapy, you can gain awareness, perspective, and coping skills to manage the distress. I am trained and experienced in utilizing many different types of therapy including CBT, DBT, ACT, emotion focused therapy, and psychodynamic therapy as well as EMDR and experiential approaches.
